What is Motivated Endurance?

Everywhere that I have lived (Erie, Slippery Rock, Philadelphia, Lancaster..) I have always been on the lookout for places to run, bike, hike and go for walks. Growing up in McKean it was natural to walk out the front door and start running down the road with minimal concern for my safety. However, Philly… that was a different story and after working as a Physician Assistant and getting multiple consults to the Emergency room for pedestrians who were walking, running or biking and struck by vehicles I started thinking twice.

My thoughts behind creating “motivated endurance” was to find and try out different places around the Erie and surrounding areas that are safe for walking, running, hiking and/or biking and to hear about all the places where everyone else enjoys doing these activities! Now, I also know that my favorite 6 mile running loop down back country roads is not a route that I would take my dog or my son along with me, SO I've been brainstorming a plan to separate these routes into categories so people can choose the best for them!!

I hope to make this a continuously growing list, so please share your favorite places to break a sweat! (If you use “map my run” or similar apps feel free to include a picture of the route) Comment below, send me an e-mail or click on the "contact me" button on the home page under Contribute to blog and I will add the routes to the list for everyone to see (and of course give YOU credit)

START BRAIN STORMING YOUR FAVORITE PLACES SO WE CAN SHARE AND HELP MOTIVATE OTHERS TO BREAK A SWEAT AND IMPROVE OUR ENDURANCE!

HERE are some thoughts to keep in mind:

  1. Dog friendly

  2. Stroller friendly

  3. Dog AND stroller friendly

  4. Children friendly

Slow or Fast

a MILE is a MILE
